Material will be provided by MWA so no material fees.

As this project is a community service, there will be a $1 dollar class fees.

The PayPal system does not allow a $0 fee registration. 

Class description:

New for 2024: Minnesota Woodturners will provide a quarterly community service project class. These classes will be "free" and open to members of all skill levels. The projects will be focused on making boxes for Beads of Courage, Wig stands for cancer patients and bowls for empty bowls supporting food-related charitable organizations.

Community Service Spindle Turning Class led by Linda Ferber

When: April 27

Time: 9 am to 2 pm

Where: Houck Building, MWA classroom

 

We will be turning spindles for the MWA Community Service WIG Stand project. Join the fun and learn the basic of spindle turning. We will cover sizing tenons, beads and cover and a variety of spindle shapes. All skill levels welcome.

 

The spindles will be matched with bases and stands to create fun and spited Wig stands.

  • Tools:
    • Spindle roughing gouge
    • Spindle gouge (or your favorite gouge)
    • Parting tool
  • We will provide wood but also looking for donations
    • Spindle blank 2” square by 12” length
