Hands-on workshops for MWA members
Among the many benefits of membership in Minnesota Woodturners Association is the availability of regular small group hands-on sessions that are hosted by members of our club. These sessions give new woodturners the chance to work with experienced turners in smaller groups, frequently on a one-on-one basis.
These sessions are in addition to our regular monthly membership meetings and are announced to members by email or during our monthly meetings. Group sizes are determined by the hosts. The MWA owns several lathes that are made available for these sessions.
Recent sessions have been devoted to lathe basics, sharpening, bowl turning, lidded box making and tool making. It’s a great way for beginners to gain confidence in their own woodturning activities.
Participants are required to bring their own tools and turning wood plus eye protection in the form of safety glasses or full facemasks. Stay tuned for future announcements of these sessions.
