Here is the information from Trent regarding his classes:
Hands on info-
Generally most people are interested in learning about hollow forms although I am well versed in bowls, platters, and carving as well. The class could be set up so that it has a focus and I demonstrate a project and participants than make the same or similar object. It could also be set up more free form where I demo a topic such as hollow forms and introduce some carving and then participants take those ideas and explore their own designs and concepts.
hollow form blanks, 5- 6" in diameter, 6-7" long endgrain, preferably without the pith but we can work with it if they are small diameter trees - we'll need 2 or so per person, unless we get into carving as well
bowl or platter blanks, if we are on mini lathes or full sized lathes but they should be sized accordingly. Between 8 and 11" in diameter and about 2" thick for a platter, and about 3"-4" thick for a bowl, both face grain.
As for tools I will bring a good selection of loaner tools for people to use - especially the hollowing tools.
Below is a list of items students may want to bring along (all are optional):
bowl gouge (swept Back Grind)
Any hollowing turning tools they may have
any tool that may be giving you trouble
a few pieces that they have turned
anything else they deem appropriate.
