DATE: Saturday June 22, 2019

TIME: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

LOCATION: Houck Machine, 12811 16th Ave N., Plymouth, Mn   https://goo.gl/maps/kJdhVLsHq8F2

INSTRUCTOR:Steve McLoon

A 'sushi tray' is a shallow rectangular bowl, which could have many purposes such as serving appetizers or as a jewelry caddy. Turning a rectangular tray is a great skill builder and opens possibilities for many interesting turning projects. You will learn to 'turn air', as they say in the turning world. The class also should help you get a more uniform thickness in your bowl turning. This class is best for turners who have successfully turned round bowls and platters and are looking for something new to try.

Equipment and supply needs for the class will be minimal (mainly a bowl gouge), and will be detailed in an email to participants.

About the instructor: Steve started turning in 2006, when he acquired a ShopSmith. Since then, he has studied with some of the top turning instructors in the country. His turnings include functional as well as art pieces. His work has been shown at numerous shows and galleries, and has won several awards. Steve also makes furniture in his studio. Steve will have wood to purchase by the Board Foot that you can purchase from him.
