Beginning Bowl Class:


Class start time 9am doors will be open by 8:30

This is a beginners bowl class. You will be taught the basics of turning a small to medium sized bowl. 

Class covers grain orientation on the lathe, problem areas in wood, how to use various turning tools, common turning mistakes, sanding and finishing techniques.

Class will probably go past noon. bring a lunch to save time running to a restaurant. Refrigeration, soda and coffee are provided.

If you have the following tools bring them.

Bowl gouge, 1/2" or 3/8" round nose scraper, parting tool, negative rake scraper.   We can sharpen only HSS at the class. if you don't know whether your tools are HSS or carbon bring them along and find out.

We do have tools for your use if you do not have any.

We will have 1/2 log blanks for this class, If you want to bring your own blank it should be green wood (not dry), straight grain solid wood is preferable.  No cracks, voids or exotic lumber.
