Additional Information from Steve McLoon:
This weekend is Art-A-Whirl, one of my favorite events of the year. Hundreds of artists in northeast Minneapolis will open their studio doors to us. This is the largest open studio event in the country. All the participating buildings will have free guides to the event, or you can get more information at the event website (www.nemaa.org/art-a-whirl). The City will run a free bus that circulates among the main buildings. The hours are as follows:
Friday (May 20) 5:00-10:00pm
Saturday (May 21) noon-8:00pm
Sunday (May 22) noon-5:00pm
My studio will be open, and I hope you have time to visit. I am in studio 100 in the Carriage House (1720 Madison St. NE, Minneapolis – the building behind Casket Arts). My studio mates include two other woodworkers and two jewelers, so there will be lots to see. Friday evening, we will have wine and cheese, so come by then if you can.
I will have several new projects to show. This includes a new Greene & Greene inspired side table, which won an award last month at the Northern Woods Exhibition. Also, I will show a 16” platter made from a beautiful piece of figured walnut. I have been using lots of walnut recently including making business card holders in a new design of mine. I would love to show you my recent work. I hope to see you this weekend.
